Supporting future generations with nutritious vegan meals:

Just Vegan loves to assist where ever possible, all opportunity to advocate for healthy plant based lunches is one step forward for all kind. Healthy meals mean happy healthy minds, stronger immune systems, better education,  happy sentient persons.

Providing holistic care and a home for destitute HIV/AIDS-infected mothers, their children and orphans as a result of HIV-related deaths, Nkosi’s Haven is a safe haven without discrimination and prejudice. They also contribute by distributing a portion of their donations to other organisations in need.

How you can help: All kinds of donations are appreciated from, healthy food,  clothing and shoes to toys, bedding and furniture.

Supporting community through healthy ecosystems and security:

Just Vegan is a firm believer in that we, and everything we do, all our actions are connected, in that improved friendships, healthier ecosystems, health, security, education, and improved quality of life on earth is interlinked in enabling all of us to better each others lives, inclusive of sentient persons. The Klein Jukskei Greenbelt Initiative is one of those projects that does just that, please support them, and or find one closest to your community and to your heart, that does something similar for your community!

Supporting life on earth through planting indigenous trees:

Trees are the driving force for clean air. They sustain soil, provide shelter and food for trillions of living beings on earth – lets plant them together so that we can all breath and feel their energy together. Just Vegan supports trees for life.  Just Vegan loves to plant trees for the benefit of all.  You could consider Vi-skogen who do fantastic work in East Africa.

Vegan Food For Life Initiative:

On the 28th of October 2017, Just Vegan initiated The Vegan Food For Life Initiative. Purely experimental and with so much love at hand, more than 100 pumpkin seedlings were planted from a store-bought pumpkin.

Within just 6 days, they all flourished and started to reach for earths light – seeds that would normally have been thrown away.

What transpired over the next 6 weeks was indeed magical!

New friends were connected, food was swapped, so was seeds, seedlings, and loads of love – in true human spirit.

Conscious concerns about waste on plastic, recycling, water shortages, animal exploitation, community safety & security, health, togetherness, ecosystems, healthy air & water, and fitness came to highlight.  These seedlings gave Just Vegan and Vegan Chef On The Run with Šárka Hedström a blessed opportunity to hold an audience with diverse communities, and for that we are forever humbled and eternally grateful.

Through this Initiative,  genuine worldly concerns,  giving, Just Vegan established solid friendships who are willing to move forward to the next page.

Today, we have established: a variety of tomatoes, peppers, chills, we have our first flowers on our pumpkin seedlings, onions, beets, spinach, kale, chives, garlic, sorghum, rosemary, thyme, sage, roquette, tarragon, mint, a beautiful hybrid rose, jasmine, bamboo, lavender, parsley, coriander, passion fruit –

Taking care to water by hand with bucket, early morning or late evening, making use of old used tyres and recycled plastic for containers – all it takes is a little love, access to water, and soil, providing food for those who need. No one should ever have to go hungry. This is something that we can all do readily!

Just Vegan has also established a haven of drinking water for the garden birds who sing such beautiful angelic songs free of charge!

Outreach:

Just Vegan believes that we are all connected, just like an intricate network of mycelium, working together symbiotically, keeping each other alive, safe, and happy. We need each other today, more so, than ever before. Living well and doing good encourages and inspires others to do so.

Books:

This book is about a revolution – a revolution of the heart. The exploitation of animals is pervasive, entrenched, and horrific. In this book, the authors reject the idea that animal use is morally acceptable if we treat animals “humanely.” They reject the campaigns for “compassionate” exploitation promoted by virtually all large animal protection organizations. These campaigns, the authors argue, reinforce the notion that we can consume our way out of injustice and trade one form of exploitation for another. They are morally wrong and they are, as a practical matter, ineffective. The central argument of this book is that we need a paradigm shift. We must see nonhuman animals as nonhuman persons. This paradigm shift—this revolution of the heart—starts with our own veganism, not as some sort of “flexitarian lifestyle” issue, but as a basic, fundamental, and non-negotiable commitment to justice and fairness for nonhuman animals. Veganism, as a moral imperative, recognizes that we have no moral justification for using animals—however “humanely”—for our purposes. It continues with our daily efforts to educate others in creative, positive, and nonviolent ways about veganism—something that each of us can do if we want to. Every day, we have opportunities to educate family, friends, colleagues at work, and people whom we encounter in a store or on a bus. Is it easier to write a check to someone else than do the work ourselves? Of course it is. But it won’t work because the large advocacy organizations are not seeking to end animal exploitation; they are, by promoting the idea of “compassionate” animal use, seeking instead to make the public feel more comfortable about continuing to exploit animals. Francione and Charlton, both attorneys and professors at Rutgers University School of Law, have the dual perspective of working on animal issues for 30 years while developing the abolitionist theory of animal rights. In this book, they discuss six principles that make up the Abolitionist Approach: I. Principle One: Abolitionists maintain that all sentient beings, human or nonhuman, have one right—the basic right not to be treated as the property of others. II. Principle Two: Abolitionists maintain that our recognition of this one basic right means that we must abolish, and not merely regulate, institutionalized animal exploitation, and that abolitionists should not support welfare reform campaigns or single-issue campaigns. III. Principle Three: Abolitionists maintain that veganism is a moral baseline and that creative, nonviolent vegan education must be the cornerstone of rational animal rights advocacy. IV. Principle Four: The Abolitionist Approach links the moral status of nonhumans with sentience alone and not with any other cognitive characteristic; all sentient beings are equal for the purpose of not being used exclusively as a resource. V. Principle Five: Abolitionists reject all forms of human discrimination, including racism, sexism, heterosexism, ageism, ableism, and classism—just as they reject speciesism. VI. Principle Six: Abolitionists recognize the principle of nonviolence as a core principle of the animal rights movement. On the bedrock of these six principles, Francione and Charlton maintain that we can end animal exploitation.

The science is clear. The results are unmistakable.

You can dramatically reduce your risk of cancer, heart disease, and diabetes just by changing your diet.

More than 30 years ago, nutrition researcher T. Colin Campbell and his team at Cornell, in partnership with teams in China and England, embarked upon the China Study, the most comprehensive study ever undertaken of the relationship between diet and the risk of developing disease. What they found when combined with findings in Colin’s laboratory, opened their eyes to the dangers of a diet high in animal protein and the unparalleled health benefits of a whole foods, plant-based diet.

In 2005, Colin and his son Tom, now a physician, shared those findings with the world in The China Study, hailed as one of the most important books about diet and health ever written.

Featuring brand new content, this heavily expanded edition of Colin and Tom’s groundbreaking book includes the latest undeniable evidence of the power of a plant-based diet, plus updated information about the changing medical system and how patients stand to benefit from a surging interest in plant-based nutrition.

The China Study—Revised and Expanded Edition presents a clear and concise message of hope as it dispels a multitude of health myths and misinformation. The basic message is clear. The key to a long, healthy life lies in three things: breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

FAQ

  • “Q” – Is it difficult to go vegan?

“A” – No – just like everything else that you decide to do whole heatedly, whether it’s walking, running, taking on an extra job, writing a book or whatever, all you need is motivation, structure, knowledge, a positive attitude, and sometimes a little help from your friends.

  • “Q” – Where do I get my protein from?

“A” – Protein is the least of our worries, more so due to it being in so very many foods, and especially available in legumes, beans, seeds, nuts, leafy greens, and just about almost every vegan food there is. We, as humans, may be consuming way too much protein generally, but let’s focus rather on consuming healthy forms of plant protein than protein made from sentient beings.

  • “Q” – Vitamin B12 deficiency, should I be worried as an individual about going vegan?

“A” – Yes to B12 deficiency generally whether vegan or non, science today is telling us so.  Many people today are going for blood checks regularly, especially when sick and immune systems are run down, to receive invasive B complex injections and or are given pills by their G.P.s. So, this is not an uncommon occurrence in both vegans and nonvegans. As a precaution, focus rather on consumption of vegan variables. Eat from the rainbow vegan colours that are available, as well as the variety of vegan food groups. Consume well balanced vegan meals three times daily and, as an additional precaution, consider taking non-invasive vegan B12 plasters that are now widely available. You can take these once per week, or fortnightly, simply pop them behind your ear for 24 hours, your skin will absorb slowly into your system. B12 can additionally be obtained via fortified vegan foods.

  • “Q” – Vitamin D deficiency, should I be worried?

“A” – Yes, we should all be worried about not obtaining enough vitamin D however both as vegan and nonvegan, we can make sure that we obtain substantial sunlight exposure daily. A brisk 45-minute walk in the sunlight can be sufficient. Up mushroom intake, include these into meals at least twice per week. Should you be living in a country that has no sunlight or very little sunlight exposure for weeks or months in succession, consider a vegan vitamin D supplement.

  • “Q” – What about calcium deficiency, if I stop consuming dairy? Won’t my bones and teeth suffer?

“A” – No, it has been found that dairy depletes calcium in our bones and is a leading cause of osteoporosis, a growing concern today. Dairy is also known as a number one food allergen and appears able to stimulate prostate cancer cell growth and increase total prostate cancer risk among other leading modern diseases today. It is far more healthful to obtain calcium from a whole plant based source widely available in dark leafy greens, which includes all greens except spinach, chard, and beet greens (all very healthy, but not good calcium sources due to their oxalate content).

  • “Q” – I’m anaemic, can I go vegan?

“A” – Yes, as someone who is anaemic, you may benefit greatly from consumption of vegan sources!  Beans, greens, cereals, and grains, quinoa, oatmeal, prune juice, dried apricots, dried figs, raisins, raw or cooked mushrooms, baked potato, tofu, lentils, sunflower seeds, and cashews are all fantastic sources of iron. Also consider mixing blackstrap together with flax ground.
